Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Write My Book is a Cheeyell app, provided by Ekaayi Healthcare Private Limited, A 54 Vikas Nagar, Ph-1, Gali No. 2, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi 110059, India ("we", "us"). Contact: pa.ekaayi@gmail.com.
2. Your writing stays on your device
Everything you create in the app — books, answers, photos, voice and video recordings, family trees, friends' details and settings — is stored only on your device, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is protected by your passphrase (and a recovery code you write down). We never receive your passphrase, recovery code or content, and we have no copy on any server.
Because of this, we cannot recover a book if you lose both your passphrase and recovery code, and deleting the app deletes its data unless you have made a backup. Backups are encrypted files that you save wherever you choose.
Files you export (PDF, EPUB, Word, web page) are not encrypted, because they are meant to be printed or shared. You decide where they go.
3. Information we and our partners process
| What | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase details: an anonymous app user ID, the product bought, transaction ID, date, price, country/storefront, app and device version | To complete and verify Book Pass purchases and prevent fraud | Apple (payment) and RevenueCat, Inc. (purchase verification) on our behalf |
| Text, audio or images you send to an AI feature | Only when you use AI transcription, polishing, translation or planning | The AI provider whose account and key you connect (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter or Groq), under that provider's own privacy terms |
| Standard web request data (IP address, browser type, page requested) when you visit wmbb.cheeyell.com | To deliver and protect the website | Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting) |
| Emails you send us | To answer your questions | Us (Google Gmail) |
We do not collect your name, contacts, location, book content, photos or recordings. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and the app contains no advertising or analytics software.
Payment card details are handled entirely by Apple; we never see them.
4. Device permissions
The app asks for the microphone (to record your voice or use Talk mode), the camera (to take a photo or video) and photos (to add pictures or save an export) only when you use those features. You can turn any permission off in your device settings.
5. AI features
AI features are optional and off until you add your own AI provider key in Settings. The key is stored encrypted on your device. When you use an AI feature, only the specific text, recording or chapter you choose is sent from your device directly to that provider — not through us. Read-aloud uses voices installed on your device, so that text is not sent anywhere.
6. Children
Write My Book is meant for adults and families writing their stories. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents may write about their children (for example in a baby book); that content stays encrypted on the parent's device.
7. Keeping and deleting data
You control your content: delete a book in the app (Finish or delete book → Delete), or remove the app to erase everything on that device. Purchase records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal reasons. Emails are kept as long as needed to help you.
8. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other laws that apply to you, you may ask to access, correct or erase personal data we hold, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to act for you. Because your books never reach us, requests about book content are handled by you in the app. For purchase data or anything else, email pa.ekaayi@gmail.com; we reply within 30 days.
Grievance Officer: Ankur Chikara, Ekaayi Healthcare Private Limited, at the address above — pa.ekaayi@gmail.com.
9. Security
Content is encrypted on the device with AES-256-GCM; the key is derived from your passphrase with PBKDF2 (600,000 rounds). The app can lock automatically. No system is perfect: someone who learns your passphrase, or malware on your device, could read your books while they are open.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above, and mention important changes in the app.
